Why do people Cooperate?
Individuals cooperate on narratives dependent on goal alignment and integrity variables.
Honesty is a biological efficiency. Its value is its speed when individuals’ spaces of possibilities and goals are aligned. Those who master integrity maximize their ability to weave complex narratives that increase the surface area of audience interest and the depth of audience engagement. They also increase depth of meaning and fidelity, and accelerate iteration. Creativity is a failure prone pursuit that requires explorers to recover quickly to persist in their work. Low integrity individuals tend to behave dishonestly because of a lack of resources or the fear of losing resources that cannot or may not be recuperated. Dishonesty is biologically inefficient because it fabricates wasteful and incomplete neurological constructions that stymie progress. Dishonesty is interpersonally inefficient because it causes superfluous troubleshooting, unstable foundations and unnecessary variability between individuals’ ability to cooperate. Dishonesty generally inhibits rapid failure recovery and ameliorates creativity.
