Space of Possibilities
A Space of Possibilities is the aggregate of an individual’s experience, their genetic intuitions and the resources available to them to imagine their goals and the relevant path and duration.
Space of possibilities is a mental map essentially. Gary Klein outlines one model for mental maps in his book, Sources of Power (click link below). This model provides a convenient menu for composition of character narrative. However, there are numerous ways to imagine or consider a space of possibilities. A space of possibilities is limited by attentional aperture that is regulated by cognitive biases, priming and nudging and temporal priorities. The brain is not capable of harnessing all of its power simultaneously due to vascular limitations but shifts in focus can be attained by manipulating attentional circuits. For example, considering everything in this chart simultaneously is not possible; it requires perception and task switching.
